This adventure-filled family series tells the story of 18-year-old Justin (Chris Laird), a Shoshoni Indian whose world is shattered by his parents’ deaths. Justin inherits his father’s magical amulet and is astounded to learn that it can control time. The other half of the amulet is owned by a shady businessman, who’s using its powers for personal gain. Justin must decide how to use his new abilities and whether the two halves should be united.

At first, the safety-obsessed bodyguard and the self-indulgent diva totally clash. Looking to jump-start her career, lesbian night-club singer Jane (Whoopi Goldberg) answers an ad placed by a woman named Robin (Mary-Louise Parker), an AIDS sufferer who wants a companion to drive from the Big Apple to Los Angeles. En route, they pick up Jane’s friend Holly (Drew Barrymore), who’s pregnant and running from her abusive boyfriend. The trio gets as far as Arizona before Robin falls ill, and they must learn to rely on one another.

A celestial boo-boo sends soul-in-limbo Louie Jeffries into the body of Alex Finch (Robert Downey Jr.) in this heavenly romantic comedy. Louie lies dormant until Alex starts dating Miranda (Mary Stuart Masterson) — the daughter of Louie’s widow, Corinne (Cybill Shepherd). When Louie’s memories are unleashed, Emile Ardolino’s film gets as complex as a Shakespearian comedy, forcing all the players to sort out the remarkable events.

Frank Oz directs this remake of the 1963 Brando vehicle Bedtime Story, with Steve Martin as Freddy, a small-time con man who butts heads with Lawrence (Michael Caine), a successful European swindler working the Riviera. Hoping to get rid of one another, they make a loser-leaves bet to scam the fortunes of a wealthy heiress (Glenne Headly). Watching Martin do his slapstick shtick is hilarious, and the lush French Riviera backdrop is gorgeous.

The distinguished David Lean directed this adaptation of Dickens’ novel about an uncultured boy thrust into high society by a mysterious benefactor. Young Pip (Anthony Wager) develops an infatuation for the unattainable Estella (Jean Simmons), a relationship engineered by the mad Miss Havisham (Martita Hunt). Grown up Pip (John Mills) gets life lessons from roommate Herbert Pocket (Alec Guiness), but even Herbert can’t prepare Pip for heartache.
